Flossing removes plaque from areas between your teeth that cant be reach by your toothbrush. Plaque, if not removed, will eventually harden into calculus or tartar, leading to gum disease.
So you should always try to floss once everyday. It doesnt matter when within the day that you floss, so long as you do it. Flossing should not be painful. Its common to feel uncomfortable when you first start, but you'll get used to it after awhile. Take good care of your teeth, because you'll only have one throughout your entire life, so invest in oral hygiene, your future-self will appreciate it!
